Shower 4-24 hours before your appointment. It is important that you do not shower directly before your appointment, as your pores become enlarged afterwards, causing an over absorption of solution.

Shave or wax and exfoliate 24 hours before your spray tan appointment.

Manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, and other spa treatments should be completed the day before your appointment.

Moisturize and drink plenty of water the days leading up to your appointment. This makes a tremendous difference!

Refrain from applying oils, perfumes, lotions, makeup, and deodorant the day of your appointment. The spray tan solution needs a clean slate to work with to absorb into the skin evenly. Before we ever begin spraying a client, we apply a Mojito prep spray to the body to remove any left-over film on the skin that may have been missed.

Avoid Dove and Bath and Body Works products at all costs. These brands will leave a layer on your skin that acts as a barrier for the spray tan solution to absorb into the skin. You should also avoid any shampoos, conditioners, body washes, face cleansers, and exfoliators that contain sulfates and parabens. Ask your Tanning Mixologist about Elite’s After Care Kit of spray tan approved products.

Elite’s premium spray tan solutions are carefully formulated to provide a gorgeous tan that can last up to 5-9 days with proper care. The longevity of your spray tan can vary depending on the factors such as daily activities and after care routine. To help extend the life of your tan, we recommend avoiding prolonged water exposure, excessive sweating, exfoliation, and spa treatments as these can cause your spray tan to fade more quickly. The area in which your spray tan appointment is held must have ample space to fit a 4 foot wide spray tanning tent and the area must be well-ventilated. An easily accessible outlet is also required for our equipment to plug into. It is important to avoid rooms with dim lighting, as it makes it harder to see during the application process. We have spray tanned clients just about everywhere: living rooms, master bathrooms, bedrooms, and enclosed backyard patios. We respect our client’s privacy and preferences, which is why we offer the option to undress to their comfort level. Some clients prefer to be fully nude to avoid tan lines and ensure even coverage, while others prefer to wear underwear or a bathing suit to feel more comfortable or achieve tan lines. We provide complimentary disposable thongs for those wishing to be more modest. If you prefer to wear something of your own, make sure the undergarments or bathing suit is a darker color. All of our tanning solutions easily wash out of your clothes, bathing suits, towels and sheets.

While the time required for a spray tan session can vary based on individual needs, we follow through a process to ensure that every client receives the best possible experience. Once we arrive at your location, we require a few minutes to set up our equipment. The first 5-10 minutes will be a consultation in which we discuss your skin tone, skin type, and color preferences. This consultation will also give you the opportunity to talk about any added services you’d like to include, such as incorporating our “mixers” into your spray tan solution cocktail or adding contour. We are more than happy to go over any questions you may have during and after your appointment to ensure the best experience possible. Once we have all of the necessary information, we’ll begin mixing up your personalized cocktail. The spray tan application itself only takes about 10 minutes. If you opt for contouring, this will take an additional 10-15 minutes. After your custom spray tan is complete, we will need a few extra minutes to gather our supplies and close the tanning tent. We want to ensure that you are completely satisfied with your spray tan, so we will provide you with aftercare instructions and answer any questions you may have.

Within 12-24 hours, your spray tan will be fully developed and you will be able to see the final result of your spray tan appointment. Our Elite team members will advise you when to rinse off in the shower after your spray tan appointment. With a rapid spray tan, you will rinse off anywhere from 1-4 hours. For a regular spray tan, you will rinse off anywhere from 8-10 hours. While you are rinsing off in the shower, you will notice the cosmetic bronzer going down the drain. Don’t worry! You are not rinsing off the spray tan itself, only the temporary bronzer. A flawless tan will still develop.

This is ideal for clients who need to go to work or dinner after their appointment and don’t want to look like they just received a spray tan. After receiving your spray tan, it’s important to be mindful of what you put on your skin to avoid any unwanted reactions or damage to your tan. Here are some things that you should avoid putting on your skin after a spray tan:

Water: Avoid getting your skin wet during the time period in which you are waiting to rinse to allow the color to fully develop. For the duration of your spray tan, avoid hot tubs, baths, and long hot showers.
